Velvet Dreams (Acoustic version recorded live at WesFest 1999 in New York)
lyrics
I must guard this precious heart
I must close these jaded eyes
My small world has come apart
Under the weight of our demise
The words you say, the way you move
The lies you tell, the bones you bruise
Cannot be mended, cannot be healed
I am the soul that no longer feels
You must leave, you must go
I am better here alone
I have nothing left to steal
I am the soul that no longer feels
You must leave, you must go
I am better here alone
I am better here
A velvet veil covered your head
White like the satin on our bed
These vows were never meant to be so mean
This is not my velvet dream
You must leave, you must go
I am better here alone
I have nothing left to steal
I am the soul that no longer heals
You must leave, you must go
I am better here alone
Be this hell or in between
These are not my velvet dreams
These are not my dreams

I was at this show! It's been one of my favorite shows ever and one of my first real club experiences. Both Porcupine Tree and Opeth rocked. Both bands were on fire that night and they rocked well into the middle of the night. It's even cooler now, knowing that I'm going to be part of an official Porcupine Tree vinyl release! g-unit1111

The first official outing of the "what would be" Steve Rothery Band. Riccardo Romano was missing with his keyboard wizardry and no singer at all (later Martin Jakubsky of Stillmarillion). Marillion's catalogue was represented by excerpts of instrumental sections where Steve had his solo spot. This is a milestone in the forming of a great band that later became the spokesman of early Marillion era and of course of Steve's solo material.
